A couple days in a winter wonderland? You Bet.
Sometimes, one day just isn’t enough to really soak in enough of what winter in Algonquin has to offer - so, we’re going for two.
Algonquin Park is famous for it’s captivating scenery, vast landscapes and endless beauty - for good reason! Add a quiet blanket of snow, good company and delicious food - and you’ve got yourself a day trip like no other. Never snowshoed before? No problem! Our trained guide will be with you every snowy step of the way to ensure you leave only with the best of memories.
We’ll be leaving Toronto at 7:30am from our pick-up location at Sheppard West Station, making our way to Algonquin Park. At approx. 9:45am, we’ll take a break-stop in Barrie, offering a chance to use the bathrooms and grab some snacks/breakfast. We’ll also make a stop at an Algonquin trip staple, Henrietta’s Bakery (Saturdays only). From there, we’ll head into the park for a guide’s choice trail hike, strapping on our snowshoes and exploring for approx. 3.5 hours. We’ll depart Algonquin at roughly 4:00-4:30pm and make our way to the coziest accommodations we could find for the night. Think, cabin vibes, campfires and sitting around a table with some new friends.
Once we’re warmed up, bellies are full and our feet rested, we’ll head over to Arrowhead Park for their Fire and Ice Night Skate (note - skates are not provided, but are available for rent at the park). After a handful of laps around their magical skating trail, we’ll make our way back to the cabin for the coziest sleep imaginable.
Day two will see us rise and shine, share some breakfast and hit the road south. Making sure we squeeze in a little more magic, we’ll stop off at High Falls (and a possible Bracebridge visit if time allows) for a leg-stretch, and finally meander our way down HWY 11 for an eventual drop off back at Sheppard West Station at approx. 2:30/3:00.
